Those of you who aren’t network geeks might not care but the core of the Internet has been crumbling for a while now.  The basic problem is that the ratio of network speed at the edge compared to network speed at the core has been growing far too fast, until now it’s basically the same:  [...]

Obama: Pittsburgh Model For Change

June 27th, 2008 · 2 Comments

As I mentioned previously, Obama swung by Pittsburgh to talk about money.  The press coverage of the event, which I’ll admit that I found on Babbledog suggests that he thinks Pittsburgh is a model for some kind of national economic progress:

Over memorial day weekend I breezed into town to try to get the new house settled. The main stuff:

get shades up in the girls’ rooms so that they could sleep without the sun waking them up
meet the neighbors
clean up the lawn
buy a fridge

That [...]

Starting with Food

June 23rd, 2008 · 2 Comments

We’ll start with food.
Pittsburghers seem unimpressed with Pittsburgh when it comes to food.  This may be a combination of the fact that the city is less diverse than many and closer to the midwest than one might wish.  But in my few times in the city so far, and my research, I have to say, [...]
